A data scientist at one Phoenix-area provider never anticipated he would enhance the customer experience after covering for a colleague vacationing in Thailand, he said at SIIM's Annual Meeting

The ACR, Radiology Society of North America and Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine all said the "midnight" plan would jeopardize patient care and go against the FDA's previous intentions. 

In a talk during RSNA's annual meeting, one expert urged the specialty to forge its own path, before it's forced to follow others.

The specialty needs to contribute more to the electronic health record to keep pace with data-driven care delivery, one informatics expert said during SIIM's virtual meeting.

SIIM said the decision was influenced by both continued travel restrictions among its members and a desire to quell the spread of COVID-19. 

More than 350 teams submitted results as part of the SIIM-ACR Pneumothorax Detection and Localization Challenge and were required to create algorithms to prioritize patients for quick review and treatment.

The Machine Learning Challenge on Pneumothorax Detection and Localization will kick-off at the SIIM 2019 Annual Meeting starting June 26 in Aurora, Colorado.
