Keogh appointed as NHS medical director

David Nicholson, the chief executive of the National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom, has named Sir Bruce Keogh, MD, as the NHS medical director.

Keogh, a cardiothoracic surgeon, will take on the role of championing clinical engagement in the NHS and leading the work of NHS clinical directors. He will also act as deputy chief medical officer, according to the NHS.
