U.K. cancer centers deploy Varians EMR software
The Thames Valley Cancer Network--which consists of two cancer centers in Oxford, England and Reading, England, as well as several general hospitals--have recently implemented Aria for medical oncology from Varian Medical Systems.
The implementation of the chemotherapy software, which allows patients to have involvement in their own treatment and management of care, has taken place throughout 2009 across the England facilities, and has been well received by both patients and clinicians, according to Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.
The software is designed to create a personalized EMR for each patient, beginning at initial diagnosis through follow-up, managing chemotherapy, drug orders and other non-drug physician orders, Varian said.
