Varian unveils line of cancer treatment accelerators

Radiation oncology device and software manufacturer Varian Medical Systems has introduced its new line of image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery technology, the TrueBeam system.

The TrueBeam platform is designed to treat a moving target for the care of lung, breast, prostate, head and neck and other types of cancer, said the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company. Varian said its system can be used for all forms of external-beam radiotherapy, including image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy and RapidArc radiotherapy.
