IntraOp installs intra-operative breast cancer device in Midwest
Avera McKennan Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls, S.D., has installed an intra-operative electron radiation therapy device for the treatment of breast cancer, IntraOp’s Mobetron.
According to Sunnyvale, Calif.-based IntraOp, the device allows surgical oncologists to visualize the radiation site by seeing the exposed tumor bed and delivering a concentrated radiation dose during cancer surgery.
Mobetron is a mobile, self-shielded device that can be used in different operating rooms and office settings, said the company.
