Varians RapidArc treatment arrives in Spain

A 73-year-old prostate cancer patient at Institut Catala d’Oncologia in Barcelona, Spain was the first individual in the country to be treated with RapidArc radiotherapy from Varian Medical Systems. 

The technology delivers a volumetric intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatment in a single or multiple arcs around the patient, said the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.
