John Muir Health opens new cancer center
Northern California provider John Muir Health has opened the Theresa M. Caygill Breast Health Center, which will offer patient screening, treatment, education and other services.
The Walnut Creek, Calif. breast health center was fully funded by a gift from Theresa Caygill, an honorary member of the John Muir Health Foundation board of directors, the provider said. In addition to conventional breast cancer prevention and treatment services, the health center will focus on offering educational resources and providing patients with dedicated nurse navigators throughout their care.
Another service for complex cases will be the review of treatment options and planning by multidisciplinary tumor boards, which may include surgeons, gynecologists, oncologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and a genetic counselor.
