Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System: Aug. 14, 2:30PM-4PM

This session will begin with a brief overview of the structure of the ambulatory payment classifications (APCs) in the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (HOPPS) as it relates to radiology procedures and studies in 2011.

It will include an orientation on the complexities of composite APCs and the expanded use of status indicators. This will be followed by an update of the new CPT codes, their APC placements and payment weights for 2011. The session will conclude with a discussion of what Medicare proposes to change for 2012 plus highlights of what new procedures to look for in the final rule.

  • Understand radiology APCs including composites and status indicators;
  • Hear the details of the placement of new codes for 2011 and implications; and
  • Find out what is new for 2012.
