CVIS

Cardiovascular information systems (CVIS) include electronic reporting systems for all aspects of the cardiovascular service line. These health informatics systems often incorporate cardiac PACS and reporting systems for echocardiography, cath lab, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology (EP), ECG and diagnostic testing. Today, these systems are often web-enabled or web-based and integrated tightly with a healthcare system's electronic medical record (EMR).

Plaque characteristics boost predictive power of CTA risk scoring

A CT angiography (CTA)-derived score that also incorporated the extent, location and composition of coronary plaque outperformed a model that focused only on the severity of stenosis, researchers reported Jan. 16 in JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging.

Digisonics announces integration of its CVIS solutions with GE Healthcare’s EchoPAC

Digisonics, provider of award-winning CVIS solutions, has announced integration with GE Healthcare’s EchoPAC for advanced analysis of 3D/4D studies and strain rate.

Agfa HealthCare to highlight IMPAX Cardiovascular IT solutions at EuroPCR

Agfa HealthCare announces today that it will highlight its comprehensive IMPAX Cardiovascular suite of products at the EuroPCR congress, the official congress of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI), from May 21-24, in Paris, France.

KLAS: Complete CVIS remains elusive

In the era of health IT and meaningful use, many providers are looking for a one-stop shop to house all their cardiovascular reporting needs. However, in terms of the cardiovascular information system (CVIS), most users reported that their system was only 65 percent complete, and most are still looking for an all-in-one solution to meet their needs, according to an October KLAS report titled, Will the Complete CVIS Please Stand Up?

Pa. hospital chooses DR Systems' CVIS

Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, Pa., has selected DR Systems' Unity CVIS to meet its cardiology department's CVIS needs.

CVIS: Improving Departments from Within

In the current era of healthcare reform, spawned by the funding made available in the HITECH Act of February's stimulus package, there has been much discussion about producing transparent and quantifiable data on the performance of various departments.

CVIS, Cardiology PACS Widening Image Access

For cardiology PACS, the explosion of cardiac-related advances across imaging modalities has created demand for expanded capabilities beyond simple image storage and distribution, providing physicians with access to patient-specific information related to images and reports within the facility or externally. Meanwhile, with this increased volume of image data, cardiologists also need to have access to more extensive patient data, such as hemodynamic monitoring, EKG and electronic medical record (EMR) information to create structured reports.

Positron, a New York-based nuclear imaging company, will now provide Upbeat Cardiology Solutions with advanced PET/CT systems and services.

The nuclear imaging isotope shortage of molybdenum-99 may be over now that the sidelined reactor is restarting. ASNC's president says PET and new SPECT technologies helped cardiac imaging labs better weather the storm.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.
