ACR absorbs CT colonography database to make screening easier
The American College of Radiology (ACR) announced the acquisition of the My CT Colonography center online locator, a tool to help patients find exam centers quickly and easily.
Patients enter their zip code to find the nearest CT colonography center. The tool—originally created by Bracco Diagnostics—currently includes 150 centers, but the ACR is working to incorporate all of the more than 700 facilities that perform such exams into the database.
“We’ve heard from patient advocacy groups that they would strengthen their recommendation of CT colonography if they knew the procedure was more widely available across the United States,” said Judy Yee, MD, chair of the ACR Colon Cancer Committee, in a news release.
The ACR encourages centers that perform CTC to register online and become part of the searchable database.
“By providing this tool to our many stakeholders, the College is facilitating access to an effective, safe and less invasive screening tool for colon cancer,” said Jonathan Kruskal, MD, PhD, FACR, president of the Society of Abdominal Radiology, in the release.
