BSD deploys hyperthermia system in China
Liuan People's Hospital in Liuan City, China, has purchased a BSD-2000 hyperthermia system from BSD Medical Systems.
The new BSD-2000 delivers precision-focused radiofrequency (RF) energy into cancerous tumors, including those located deep in the body. The RF energy raises the tumor temperature to levels used to administer hyperthermia therapy and destroy cancer cells and can increase the effectiveness of radiation therapy.
Liuan People's Hospital plans to treat cervical cancer and other pelvic cancers as well as to conduct research on the treatment of lung cancer with the new BSD-2000 system, which is restricted to investigational use in the United States.
