Mass General chooses RayStation software for radiation treatment
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston has chosen RaySearch Laboratories' RayStation treatment planning software to optimize radiation therapy doses.
RaySearch and MGH began collaborating on multi-criteria optimization for radiation therapy research in 2008, RaySearch said. RayStation is the resulting software program which, in part, assists physicians in balancing sufficiently high radiation doses to kill tumors while not reaching a level so high as to cause extensive damage to surrounding tissue, the company explained.
RayStation uses algorithms for treatment planning of intensity-modulated radiation therapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy treatment for photon and proton therapy and also has full support for 4D adaptive radiation therapy. Stockholm-based RaySearch develops software for radiation therapy.
