MediConnect acquires PHR provider PassportMD

Medical records provider MediConnect Global has acquired health IT company PassportMD. The transaction cost for the personal health record (PHR) provider was undisclosed.

According to MediConnect, the South Jordan, Utah-based PassportMD has been selected to partake in a pilot program by the Obama Administration to provide EHRs for Medicare beneficiaries, and is one of only four vendors chosen to participate.

According to the privately held Salt Lake City-based MediConnect, a PassportMD PHR account assists to collect and enter past medical information, including hospital and doctor visits, lab results and prescriptions. Users also have access to healthcare information about their medical conditions, symptoms and treatment options, said the company.
