Radiotherapy treatment system from Varian chosen in UK

Medical software and device manufacturer Varian Medical Systems will supply Kent Oncology Centre in Southeast England with two Clinac iX accelerators with RapidArc capability for radiotherapy treatments.

The RapidArc technology will enable clinicians to deliver image-guided intensity-modulated radiotherapy treatment in one or two revolutions of the machine around the patient, and the two machines are slated to be delivered to both of the Centre’s oncology departments in Maidstone and Canterbury in the spring, said Palo Alto, Calif.-based Varian.
