Still River names Jachinowski CEO

Still River Systems, a developer of proton therapy systems for cancer treatment, has appointed Joseph K. Jachinowski as its CEO and to its board of directors.

Most recently, he was the executive vice president of the Stockholm, Sweden-based Elekta and CEO of Elekta Holdings with responsibility for Elekta's North American operations. Prior to Elekta, he co-founded Impac Medical Systems and served as its President and CEO for 15 years from its inception. Jachinowski began his career at Varian Medical Systems, where he was responsible for leading the team that developed their linear accelerator products in the 1980s.

In related news, Littleton, Mass.-based Still River said that Marc Buntaine will be assuming the position of president and chief commercial officer, and Kenneth Gall, PhD, a company founder, has been named chief technology officer.
