X-ray company marshals community gratitude for COVID-19 healthcare workers

A supplier of medical imaging products and services in West Michigan is going beyond applauding local healthcare workers on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19.

The company, Kalamazoo X-Ray Sales, has launched a fundraising campaign to send $25 gift cards to as many clinicians and support staff as donors will fund. As of April 20, the effort had raised around $1,800 toward a $20,000 goal.

A local TV news station in the area has posted coverage of the effort.

“We’ve always known that they’re selfless individuals with the sacrifices they’ve made,” Kent White, the company’s manager of HR and compliance, tells Fox 17 reporter Lauren Edwards. “Now the whole world is seeing it. So we want to be able to get that message to them.”

Donors can include a personal thank-you note along with their gifts, which can be directed to specific provider organizations or individuals at the donor’s discretion.

Michigan has been one of the states hardest hit by the pandemic.
