Physicians utilize medical imaging to see inside the body to diagnose and treat patients. This includes computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, angiography,  and the nuclear imaging modalities of PET and SPECT. 

CT may fill gaps in gout detection

Dual-energy CT scanning is effective in detecting monosodium urate deposits, the crystalized form of uric acid in subjects with gout, and can aid clinical decision making when gout is suspected, according to a study presented Nov. 7 at the American College of Rheumatology annual scientific meeting in Chicago.

This interactive session will share techniques for exam acquisition and diagnosis, clinical indications for breast MRI and MRI-guided biopsy, follow-up and management.

New Trends in Digital Mammography; Nov. 27, 2:00pm-3:30pm

Speakers will explore the potential of new detectors and how they may impact dose reduction and visualization. They will also review research in techniques and technology and share information about digital tomosynthesis and contrast-enhanced mammography.

Tailored Breast Cancer Screening; Nov. 27, 2:00pm-3:30pm

This session considers risk assessment for breast cancer screening, protocols for screening beyond mammography and current controversies in breast cancer screening.

Advanced Neurovascular MR Angiography; Nov. 29, 4:30pm-6:00pm

This refresher course will review various MR angiographic pulse sequences, compare 3T MR angiography with CT angiography in the detection of carotid bifurcation stenosis and introduce new MR angiography protocol techniques.
